Indicates the customer-facing features and changes included in the Bongo Direct 25.2 update, released on May 29, 2025.
Custom Logo Support
- Custom logos can now be added to your organization so your users will see your logo along with the Bongo logo.
- Users can also be sent to a custom URL when clicking on your logo inside Bongo Direct.
- Contact Bongo if you would like to add your logo to your Bongo Direct organization.
Notification Email Improvements
- Learners will now receive an email notification if one of their assignments is reset and needs to be resubmitted. Learners will not receive this notification if they have email notifications disabled.
- The text and button color in the notification emails can be customized for your organization.
Custom SMTP support has been added which allows notifications to be sent using a custom from address. - Contact Bongo if you would like to customize the emails or implement a custom SMTP address for your organization.
xAPI (Tin Can) Support
Instructors and admins in Bongo Direct are now able to export any assignment in Bongo Direct as an xAPI (Tin Can) package. This package can be imported into a learning platform that supports Tin Can so that learners can easily and securely access the assignment from that platform.
- Instructors and admins have a new ‘Download xAPI (Tin Can) Package’ option for each assignment in a course. This option will download the package for the assignment as a .zip file. This file should be uploaded directly to the learning platform, not extracted first.
- Once imported into the learning platform, learners can launch the Bongo assignment directly from the learning platform and be automatically authenticated.
- Instructors can provide feedback and scores to learner submissions by accessing the assignment in Bongo Direct.
- Once a learner submits an assignment, a completion notification is sent to the learning platform. Different platforms may handle or display this notification differently.
- Once a score has been provided to the learner (either manually or automatically), the score will be sent to the learning platform. Different platforms may handle or display this notification differently.
Enterprise Mode - Content Creator Role
A new ‘Content Creator’ role has been added to Enterprise Mode. Users with this role will be able to create and manage all Bongo assignments in their institution but will not have access to manage users. Admin users can still manage content, but can also manage users.
Enterprise Mode - User Screen for Admins
Admin users using Bongo Direct in Enterprise Mode now have access to a user screen where they can manage the users in their institution. Admins can view, add, or remove users as Admins or as Content Creators. Management of imported users will be added in a future release.
