Indicates the new customer-facing features and changes included in the Bongo 20.3 release deployed to all production regions on Tuesday, July 7th, 2020.

Highlights

Instructor Activity Overview

The new Activity Overview screen replaces the old gradebook page. We've added new functionality, including a new Insights section to provide analytics about the activity.

  • New progress states are introduced. The learner state is now one of the following: Not Viewed, Viewed, In Progress, Submitted, Evaluated, Published. This allows educators to more precisely understand the current state of all the learners taking the assignment.
  • The insights section provides analytics about the activity. By default, a progress dashboard is shown. This dashboard indicates how many learners are in each state and indicates if the educator has any submissions that are ready for evaluation or scores ready for publication.
  • The learner section has been enriched with the new status states and the Auto Analysis™ scores if enabled for the assignment, and the list can be filtered by selecting one or more statuses. An expanded view can be toggled that shows more details for each learner including details on the learner’s progress.
  • When launching a learner’s submission or progress view, the learner list remains on the left side allowing for easy navigation between learners. This list respects any filters applied to the list before launching a learner.
  • Some wording changes have been made to this experience. The terms ‘score’ and ‘learner’ replace ‘grade’ and ‘student’.

Draft Scores Available to all users

  • Draft scores have already been available as an optional feature in Bongo, and are now available to all Bongo users. Draft scores allow educators to save a score without exposing it to the learner immediately. Educators can publish the score later which will expose the score to the learner and send the grade to the LMS gradebook if configured.

New Captioning Workflow

  • Users can directly supply captions for their videos. All users will be able to supply captions to videos that they own. In addition, any members of a group project are able to supply captions to group videos, and educators are also able to supply captions to any learner videos in their course.
  • Users can launch the caption workflow videos by selecting ‘Manage’ in the ‘CC’ section of the scrubber bar. This workflow allows the user to upload a caption file, edit an existing caption file, or remove an existing caption file.
