Set Up Individual Assignment

Instructors: outlines how to set up an Individual assignment. This article includes information on basic settings, enabling automated feedback, peer review, and other advanced settings

To learn more generally about Individual Assignment, see the Individual Assignment OverviewTo walkthrough the assignment set up, click Continue  in the box below. Click the arrows in the corner to view full screen.

Configuration for Individual assignments is split up into the following sections. The first two are required to save a new assignment, and the others can optionally be used to customize the learner experience when taking the assignment.

General

The General tab contains the basic information about the assignment.

  1. An assignment title may be provided by your LMS, but otherwise will need to be added
  2. A due date can optionally be added
  3. Instructions are the first thing the learner will see when taking the assignment. This can be a brief overview of the assignment or something more detailed. A video can be included with the instructions by clicking on the video icon next to the instructions. DO NOT use emojis in your instructions.

Evaluation

The Evaluation tab allows you to determine how learners will be evaluated. Each type provides you with a description on how each type works. Manual modes such as Percentage and Rubric require that an instructor review each submission and provide a score to each learner, and Automatic evaluation types like Smart Scoring will automatically evaluate learner submissions.

AI Feedback

AI Feedback provides learners with automatic analysis and coaching for each response. This feature can be disabled if it doesn't apply to your specific use case. AI Feedback cannot be disabled if using Smart Scoring or other AI analysis as the evaluation type.

Learning Objectives

Learning Objectives are a list of objectives that learners are expected to demonstrate as part of their video submission. Learning objectives consist of a general description, and a list of specific criteria that describes what the learners should demonstrate in their submission.

Learning Objectives will be used to tailor the AI coaching tips that are provided to learners after recording a video, and if Smart Scoring is used, learner videos will also be scored based on the objectives.

To add Learning Objectives, you can provide reference material, and Bongo will automatically generate a list of objectives and criteria based on the material provided. The generated objectives can then be modified or removed if desired.

See how it works by watching the video below:

Toolset

The toolset section allows you to customize which tools learners are able to use when completing their assignment.

  • The video tool is always enabled. This tool allows learners to use the Bongo recorder to record their camera and/or their screen. Additionally learners are able to upload a video if they want.
  • The attachment tool allows learners to upload supplemental document or image files that can be included with their submission. Attachments can then be previewed in the browser or downloaded to review them.
  • The meeting tool allows learners to schedule and optionally record online meetings as part of their assignment. If the meeting is recorded, the recording can be used as the submission video.

Peer Review

Peer Review is disabled by default but can be enabled in this section. Peer Review allows learners to view and review submissions by other learners.

  1. The number of reviews you want to recommend your learners complete. Learners can still receive a score if they don't complete the configured number of reviews.
  2. By default, Bongo will try to balance peer reviews, so that learners who haven't yet been reviewed will be reviewed next. This option allows you to change this behavior and allow learners to pick who they review.
  3. Learners can optionally provide quantitative feedback to their peers either by using a 5-star scale or by using the same rubric used for their main evaluation.
